A hook magnet is a pot magnet with a hook. It lets you hang things on a steel surface without drilling or screwing. We supply hook magnets from Ø10 to Ø60 mm with a holding power of approx. 5 to 96 kg, also with a rubber coating for delicate surfaces, as a swivel version and as a value set of 6.

Hook or eye?
The standard hook magnets and eye magnets are the same pot magnet: a hook or an eye is screwed into the threaded bush on top. Pot, dimensions and holding power are identical for the same diameter. A hook is handy if you often hang things up and take them down again; with an eye you attach a rope or carabiner without it slipping off. Read more in Hook magnet or eye magnet? Good to know
The holding power is measured perpendicular to a thick, flat steel plate. If you hang the magnet from a ceiling or steel beam, the load pulls straight down and you make the best use of that force. On a vertical wall the weight pulls along the surface and the magnet slides at just a fraction of the stated holding power. For a vertical wall, choose a considerably heavier hook magnet, or a rubber version that slides less easily thanks to its grip. More explanation in Which hook magnet should you choose?
Frequently asked questions
How much can I hang on a hook magnet on a door or wall?
Much less than the stated holding power, because the magnet slides along the surface. Test with the actual weight and choose a larger size if in doubt.
How tall is a hook magnet including the hook?
Each product lists three dimensions: the height of the pot, the height including the threaded bush and the total height including the hook. Check the last one if space is limited.
Does a hook magnet damage paint?
A steel pot can scratch when it slides. On painted surfaces such as a car or fridge, choose a hook magnet with a rubber coating.
Does a hook magnet work on stainless steel or aluminium?
No. Aluminium is not magnetic, and most types of stainless steel are hardly or not magnetic either.
