Epoxy magnets (12)
Epoxy magnets are neodymium magnets with an extra layer of epoxy over the standard coating. This layer makes them more resistant to moisture, sweat and corrosion, and often gives them a black colour. That makes them suitable for humid rooms, outdoor applications and places where the magnet remains visible.
Our range of epoxy magnets
- Disc magnets: Ø5 to Ø10 mm
- Block magnets: from 30 x 10 mm to 80 x 20 mm, also as a value set
- Rod and cylinder magnets: Ø3 x 6 mm black and Ø25 x 15 mm N42H
- Ball magnets: Ø5 mm black
- Ring magnets: Ø20 mm with countersunk hole, in a north pole and south pole version
Epoxy or NiCuNi?
| NiCuNi (standard) | Epoxy | |
|---|---|---|
| Appearance | Shiny silver | Usually black |
| Moisture and corrosion | Good for dry indoor use | More resistant to moisture and outdoor use |
| Wear resistance | Hard layer | Softer layer, can be damaged by impact |
The epoxy layer is slightly thicker than NiCuNi, which increases the distance to the steel a fraction and slightly reduces the holding force. Not sure? Read Which coating or finish should you choose? or see the application epoxy-coated magnets in steel doors.
Frequently asked questions
Are epoxy magnets waterproof?
They are more resistant to moisture than magnets with NiCuNi only, but not indestructible. If the coating is damaged, the magnet can start to rust at that spot.
How do I glue an epoxy magnet?
Use a two-component adhesive, such as UHU Plus epoxy adhesive, on a clean, grease-free surface.
What does the H in N42H mean?
The letter H stands for a higher maximum operating temperature than standard neodymium magnets.
When will my order be shipped?
Orders placed and paid for before 4 pm on working days are shipped the same working day if in stock. Free shipping within the Netherlands on orders over €45. Consumers have a 30-day cooling-off period.
