Bar magnets (51)
Neodymium rod magnets are cylindrical and are selected based on diameter: this determines the holding force. We supply rod magnets from Ø2 to Ø12 mm with a holding force of approx. 240 g to 9.1 kg, in axial execution (poles on the flat ends) and diametrically magnetized (poles on the sides).
Which rod magnet suits your application?
- Model making, displays and electronics: Ø2 to Ø4 mm, up to approx. 1 kg.
- Small fasteners and hatches: Ø5 to Ø8 mm, approx. 1.4 to 4 kg.
- Cabinet doors and furniture construction: Ø10 to Ø12 mm, approx. 5 to 9 kg.
- Sensors and rotating applications: diametrically magnetized rods.
- Designs with mounting holes, such as 3D prints: a rod magnet fits into a round drilled or printed hole.
A longer rod is hardly stronger; choose a larger diameter for more holding force. Read Which rod magnet should you choose? or calculate how much holding force you need with the Magnet Advisor. The stated holding force is measured under ideal conditions; in practice, it is lower. Read how holding force is determined.
